Facebook is a great way to build a relationship with your fans and customers. It’s a social tool which allows you to have some fun with your marketing and communications.

There are all sorts of basic applications you can add to your Facebook page, but if you’re a larger company then chances are you’ll need something bespoke to really achieve the results you want from your Facebook page.

We have worked with a number of big organisations to build them specific Facebook apps for data capture and customer engagement.

One example is for a major supermarket who wanted a Facebook application creating to fit with in-store promotions. The app was for a competition and required the entrant to like the supermarket’s Facebook page before they could enter the competition. This encouraged ‘signup’ to the supermarket’s marketing through their Facebook posts. The application asked a multiple choice question and several marketing questions, and we validated they were correctly entered and then accepted the entry and stored it securely on our database.

A second example is for a global restaurant chain. We were commissioned to create a Facebook app that would automate a daily prize draw and winner management system. In order to receive the data required to manage this competition we created a secure API to collect and store the data. Once an entry was made on Facebook,an automated process drew prize winners based on a preset schedule. The number of winners, prize type and email template were all customisable for that day’s draw.

Emails were sent to winners with a prize template dependent on the prize won. In addition to this we also sent random digital content emails to the non-winners. Reporting on winners was provided as part of the same automated process.

Both of these Facebook applications were great fun to work on and produced the exact results the client was looking for. The apps increased their customer data capture and allowed them to continue their communications through all their marketing channels.

Facebook can do a lot more than you may think, but you’ll need the help of a developer to get the app you really need. Give us a call on 01858 414217 to chat through your ideas.
