Earlier on this year we worked with a large company to create a content management platform on which selected members of the public reported on the Olympics. The platform allowed the company to judge individual submissions based on set criteria, with them choosing a few winners who were really good at creating content. These winners then reported on the Olympic events, in multiple languages, and had their reports posted on the platform we created.
It was a great project to work on and we thought the completion of the original platform was everything this company would need from us for the time being. This turned out not to be the case as the client was caught off guard by an Italian legal glitch, and gave us an “impossible deadline” (their words!) to deliver the new Italian consumer-facing site and help them out of their sticky situation.
Being the people we are, we pulled out all the stops and built the Italian site in record time. The client was so pleased that they asked us to continue our work with them and manage several other aspects of the promotion, including sending out all the winner notifications in twelve languages – two of which were Thai and Chinese!
This project was a tricky one to pull out of the bag, but we like our customers to be happy and that does occasionally mean we have to work 24 hours a day! Impossible deadlines are never as impossible as you might first think.
