Virtual Working

It’s been a while since I posted anything. I guess I have been busy getting used to the situation we all found ourselves in and then managing the fallout from a world changing event.

Like many businesses around the world we had to change where our staff worked. Lockdown forced us to ask people to work from home and like many others we have taken to it so well that we don’t see ourselves going back. We’ve been ISO audited in lockdown and passed with only one minor process issue being noted, the issue simply being a revision date missing on a document! It seems we are changing the way we work forever!

The pandemic has shown, as it has with many other companies, how flexible we already were. Since we began Code String we have embraced the cloud and the concept of flexible working practices, these paid off big time when the worst happened. You could say that we passed our Disaster Recovery plan with flying colours! The whole business was working in the office one day and remote the next, without missing a beat!

So what does the future look like for us? Well, we will be taking the best of both worlds: an office to act as a hub, where people can drop in and work together, and remote working to enable us to be flexible about where and when people work. VDI (Virtualised Desktop Infrastructure) is going to enable us to lift the last fixed IT resource we had to the cloud, enabling users to securely access their own desktop anywhere in the world.
