Don’t do a Hoover!
If you have had a genius idea for an app, then you may well be tempted to sign up for an online course which promises to teach you the basics in syntax, web development and coding, so that you can get your app out there and make your million.
We’ve noticed a number of companies recently offering ‘coding for dummies’ type courses and whilst it is great that companies are offering a way to bring coding to a wider audience, we’d add a heavy note of caution to doing it the DIY way.
If you’ve had the idea today, then chances are someone else will have the same idea next week, so your time to market is critical. If you have to wait while you learn to code before you can get your product out there, then you will be seriously limiting your chance of success in making that million.
It’s also worth noting that if you are being taught purely how to create and develop products for profit, then that could make you a very narrow minded programmer. As with most things in life, the best results come from a mix of talent and experience, which is why we continue to grow with bright talented minds who complement the experienced team.
Whilst the world will always bring us exceptions to the rule such as Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerburg who go from nothing to billionaires, the reality is that many brilliant ideas will fail due to lack of skill and support, and poor timing.
