I’m Samuel Malloy and I have been working at Code String for two years. I started as an apprentice but am now a Junior Developer.
The first thing I do each day when I get to work is check my emails and plan the day’s tasks. The tasks I undertake are quite varied, and this morning I have been working on implementing a new way for purchasing products and processing orders. It’s important to make this fast and simple for customers to use.
This afternoon’s tasks, taken hot off my to do list, are:
- to set up a local WordPress site, with a new design.
- to set a close date on a site so on that specific date a closed message will appear.
- to add a new logging system so admin users can see where and when someone has logged into the system.
- to clean and export data for a Promotigo promotion
I enjoy the feeling of satisfaction when my code is successful or I fix a complicated bug. It is also nice to know that I have the power and ability to create anything I want.
National Coding Week runs from 19th – 25th September 2016. To celebrate the world of coding and do our bit to encourage more people to join us, we are blogging every day this week about the day in the life of a coder.
