DIY. The thing that everyone thinks they’re a master of, but really only a few people can actually put up shelves that are straight and will hold the weight of twenty hard back books. We’ve all tried it and it’s not as easy as it looks.

The same goes for websites. There is a plethora of TV adverts being shown at the moment for DIY websites, but really, as with any DIY activity, you get what you pay (or don’t pay) for. If you are happy with wonky shelves then a do it yourself website is fine, but if you think your business should be more professionally represented, then you need to call in the professionals to do it for you.

The trouble is, this can be very expensive especially if you get charged every time you want to make an amendment to a page. This can add up to a lot of money, not to mention a right pain, when you just want to amend something minor like opening hours or the wording on your home page.

WordPress is a the bridge between DIY and managed websites. It is a professional platform with loads of functionality and great design options, but it is also a content management system, which means you can log in and make your text amendments whenever you want. You won’t incur additional charges for this and you won’t have to wait for someone else to fit your changes into their ‘to do’ list.

There are many additional functions to a WordPress site: not least their built in blogging tool. Writing a blog is a great way to keep your website fresh and up to date – a feature that is important for your customers and for Google.

We think this is pretty much the same as straight shelves And the strength to support twenty hard backs!
