You must have heard of Black Friday. It’s the American name given to the first Friday after Thanksgiving, which signals the ‘official’ start to the Christmas shopping period. Our friends across the pond start at the end of November and not after Bonfire Night like we seem to in the UK!
Many of the US stores – both online and offline – offer discounts to retailers in order to get the Christmas shopping spending well and truly started. There are some phenomenal bargains out there if you have your credit card to hand and a bit of time to search (and wait in some of the incredible queues).
We tend to copy the American template and so Black Friday deals are starting to appear in the UK. You may well have had an email or two from Amazon over the last 24 hours, and grabbed yourself a bargain for Christmas.
So what did we buy? Well, how could the temptation of a shiny new iMac be resisted with such a tempting discount? Yep, you know boys and their technology…
Black Friday? Not for us. We’re renaming it Happy Friday! (or In The Red Friday, we can’t quite decide). Roll on Wednesday when the new toy gets delivered. And no, we won’t be waiting until Christmas morning to unwrap it.
