Social media plays a huge part in business marketing. If you use social media in your business, you’re likely to know about the serious benefits it can have to your SEO. If you’re not sure whether social media is for you – here are five reasons why it’s so good for your SEO.

Contact potential

Social media is all about community. Engagement, sharing and building your brand is what it’s all about. By branching out and approaching users on social media in a non-salesy way, you can built up a genuine loyal fan base. This is great for the sense of community that your business portrays to new people. From there, fans who feel they are part of a community and appreciated by you are more likely to buy products and services from you.

Search query volume

By having your social media content shared, you increase your chances of your website pages being clicked on. As people become more aware of your brand, they are more likely to search for you to find out more about you, read more blog posts, check out your “special offers” etc. Your website then flags up as more important to search engines, as more people are looking for you. As a result your SEO rankings improve. By sharing useful information for your audience, you’re likely to be engaged with and get your content shared. By having your content shared, the likelihood of your website being seen as a result is increased. This helps contribute to your SEO as well as increasing your brand awareness (and thus; your website!)

More activity; higher rankings

It’s not just your website that can benefit as a result of social media use. Your social media can, too. For some businesses, their activity and engagement on social media is so popular that their social media also appears in the top rankings when searching for their website. Take Innocent drinks, for example. Their brand is well established on social media and they use is to the best of their abilities and are incredibly successful on it as a result. When searching for innocent drinks in Google, not only does the company website appear on the first page, their Facebook and Twitter pages are also featured. This is good for business, as you can appear more than once on a search engine results page, and therefore increase your chances of traffic being driven back to your website via your social media.
