So, Apple haven’t had the best time in the last few months. From bendy iPhone 6s to iOS8 disasters, it’s fair to say that they’ve had better days.
However, while there are many things we’re sure Apple would change about the past few months, there have been some pretty cool features to come as a result of the new iOS8 and we want to share our favourites with you.
Hide those embarrassing photos
Do you tend to take 10-20 pictures of your pet per day? No longer do you have to feel the painful embarrassment of someone scrolling through your pictures and wondering if you do actually have a life beyond your cat. Simply tap and hold on your screen when a picture is presented and a ‘hide’ option will appear. This hides the picture from your collections, moments and years and stores it safely in a hidden album, so you can continue snapping copious pics of your four-legged friends.
Discover the battery-hogging apps
As the day goes on, we notice the 100% in the top right-hand corner turn into a 20% and we begin to panic. Suddenly, what was a normal day turns into an energy-saving, battery-preserving Bear Grylls-style mission. However, on the new iOS8, you can find the culprit to your disappearing battery. Visit settings-general-usage-battery usage. This will then present you with a list of apps you use and how much battery they are sucking. Close the energy-demanding apps and save yourself the crisis of low battery.
Super-handy card scanner
When you’re using safari to purchase something online, it can feel quite clunky and difficult to manoeuvre. On iOS8, Apple have taken this into account and have built a feature whereby you can scan your card using the camera and it will transfer all the numbers to the necessary fields securely – simple!
Add pictures to your Notes
iOS8 allows you to insert pictures into your notes. When you want to insert your picture, long press on the screen and an option will appear to insert a picture. You can then, simply, choose the picture you want to insert and scale it. This feature is particularly useful if you want to have a picture to explain a note you are making.
Don’t sacrifice your high-score
Having to exit the app you’re on to reply to your friend can be somewhat annoying when you’re close to achieving a high-score on Temple Run or Doodle Jump. A new feature on iOS8 allows you to drag down the banner that appears at the top of your screen when you are messaged and quickly reply without exiting the app you’re on.
