Hacking is something that will always happen somewhere and, unfortunately, no-one can be fully protected from it.
However, you can maximise your prevention of it happening in a number of ways. Here are just a few:
Update everything
Staying updated is about more than just how quickly a programme runs or how attractive it is. Updates are often made when a vulnerable spot in software is recognised and, therefore, fixed. If you don’t keep your devices updated, you could be leaving yourself vulnerable to hackers who are looking for people like you.
Stay updated all the time to stay protected.
Access
Admin access on your website might be something you’ve given to almost all your employees in order to keep matters simple. However, as simple as it sounds; the more admins and accounts you have to access your website and private information, the most vulnerable you are to hackers.
If you’ve given access to all your workforce, and someone’s email account is hacked, that will instantly increase vulnerability of the entire business. In order to protect yourself, reduce the level of access right to just the essential people.
Stay protected
If you’re using IT in your business, you should already have some form of anti-virus and spyware software on your PC network. Having this basic protection and constantly running checks through it to pin-point any threats your PC may have could be the difference between you getting and not getting hacked.
Back-up
Backing up your documents (especially important ones) is a vital process if you store information online. Losing important records could cause your business to go into administration if you rely on IT enough. Just imagine if you lost everything!
Backing up should be done both online and offline, for extra security. Staying updated, therefore, is of the utmost importance.
