We promised you some background information on some (or perhaps all) or our amazing new intake of Code String staff. And so here is stuff you don’t know about Darren, our newest Senior Developer. Let’s get straight to the point: Darren is a Viking! It’s surprising what you uncover during an interview but how much more you learn when the person becomes part of your full-time team.
In fairness to Darren, he did reveal his Viking tendencies when we first met. We like our people to fit in, so our curiosity about interests outside work is not simply being nosey. To put ‘Viking’ in context, Darren’s hobby is Dark Age Re-enactment. This means he can often be found dressed as a historical character recreating life during troubled times from 793 AD to 1066 AD, where Vikings and Anglo-Saxons competed for control of the land. And no, Darren confirms that Vikings did not wear helmets with horns – that’s a myth.
For his day job as a Code String Senior Developer, Darren’s main role is programming, but he also has a great deal of contact with our clients about all sorts of technical things. Darren formerly worked for Next – a famous international retail brand based on the outskirts of Leicester.
