It is with great pleasure that I introduce Kiran Chettra and Nick Wake, our fabulous new apprentices! In July 2016 Kiran and Nick made the decision to become fully fledged geeks by joining the Code String Team. Here’s what they had to say over a cup of tea…
AUDREY: You guys have been with us now for two months, how are you finding life at Code String?
KIRAN: I’m enjoying it, it’s really good and I really like it.
NICK: It’s a relaxed and a chilled environment to work in.
AUDREY: What made you choose to go down the apprenticeship route?
NICK: I did a web development module at university and I actually enjoyed it more than the other modules on the course. I wanted to get in to it but everyone that I called told me that I needed to do an apprenticeship, it’s the only way, so I applied for an apprenticeship and here I am.
KIRAN: After college, I thought to myself ‘did I want to go to university?’ and I just couldn’t see myself leaving home yet, I might be nineteen but I just though it wasn’t really going to be my scene. I’d done a web development unit at college and enjoyed it, I thought an apprenticeship would be good for me, so I had a look online, applied and now I’m here.
AUDREY: Obviously working in an office is completely different to being at college, how have you found the transition?
KIRAN: It’s different, very different. It was a huge shock; I didn’t realise how different working in an office would be compared to college.
NICK: I’d already worked in an office…
AUDREY: Lucky you, you get a green card on that question!
AUDREY: I know you went to primary school together, but I want to know a little bit more about you both. Who is the coolest?
NICK: What out of us two?
AUDREY: Yes, out of you two.
NICK: That is such a horrible question! Urrrrm, I don’t know because I haven’t seen Kiran in ages…
AUDREY: So Kiran might be cooler than you?
NICK: She might be; I don’t know…
KIRAN: I’ve not seen Nick since primary or secondary school…
NICK: In Primary school Kiran was definitely cooler than me, 100%.
AUDREY: Okay, time for the quick fire round. What is your all-time favourite song?
NICK: Just Bieber, let me love you. It’s a banger!
KIRAN: Janet Jackson, featuring Jay Cole, no sleep.
AUDREY: Do you have any hidden talents?
NICK: Saxaphone.
KIRAN: Baker.
AUDREY: Finally, the question that could determine your future: Star Trek or Star Wars?
NICK: Star Wars.
KIRAN: Star Wars.
