Trading in for Bose

THE CHALLENGE

Having created one successful campaign for premium audio company Bose to offer a cashback on its mini speakers, the company invited us to take on a further project. This was a trade-in scheme against purchases of Bose Lifestyle System 600 and 650 products, which proved to be more complex.

The new promotion was aimed at the festive period between mid-November 2017 and the end of January 2018. It asked purchasers of qualifying Bose Lifestyle Systems to send in their old audio system, along with proof of purchase, to receive a ‘trade in’ reimbursement. By ‘send in’, we mean physically post a piece of redundant audio system hardware.

As before, the Bose initiative was to run across 14 countries and in ten languages. Among our challenges was the need to manage a number of different postal service operators across several countries.

OUR SOLUTION

Again, we built a web microsite platform hosting Terms & Conditions, FAQs and a pre-populated form to make it easy to claim. Our system validated the form data, checking the consumer’s receipt for an eligible purchase and responding with an email that included a bespoke label for recipients to print and attach to their trade-in parcels, along with postage instructions.

That was the first step. The next step of this two-phase process required us to connect with warehouses that received and verified the postal trade-in packages. Once notified of successful verification, our system authorised a payment (up to £419 in the UK, €500 in France) by electronic bank transfer.

THE TECHNICAL STUFF

We developed the system to manage and process claims, validating proof of purchase data, linking to third-party ‘goods-in’ warehouses and authorising direct bank payments. The project work included:

  • Multi-lingual claim submission microsite
  • Automated claim processing & validation
  • Bespoke postage label issuing
  • Connections to validation warehouses
  • Secure API to payment providers
  • Special status access for Bose customer support agents
